Deep-Tech Startups Showcase Innovation at Transfiere Demo Day in Málaga

On March 13, 2025, Málaga hosted a vibrant Demo Day at the Trade Fair & Congress Centre of Málaga, celebrating deep-tech entrepreneurship and innovation. This event, held within the framework of the Transfiere Forum – Spain’s leading forum on science, technology, and Innovation – brought together cutting-edge startups, investors, corporate leaders, and innovation experts for a day of high-level engagement and opportunity. The Open Call for Deep Tech Start-ups was coordinated by the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and promoted by Transfiere.

A Forum for High-Level Engagement

In alignment with the objectives of the atTRACTION project, which promotes international visibility for startups through Demo Days, this initiative was designed to facilitate encounters between deep-tech entrepreneurs and European acceleration actors.

Within this context, Málaga TechPark played an important role throughout the entire process, contributing extensively to the promotion and execution of the initiative. As a member of the evaluation committee and in close coordination with stakeholders, Málaga TechPark helped ensure the successful identification and selection of high-potential projects. The evaluation panel also included representatives from the Andalusian Business Angels Network (AABAN), the Spanish Association of Science and Technology Parks (APTE), and the National Association of CEEIs (ANCES), along with experts from Bullnet Capital, Clave Mayor, Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía (CTA), Deloitte, ENISA, Enterprise Europe Network – Andalucía Trade, Finnova, and Finnovating. Further contributions came from Fundación CSIC, Indraventures, LINK by UMA-ATECH, the National Hub for Digital Content, Solvere Capital, SPAINCAP, and Tecnalia Ventures.

With over 5,200 attendees, more than 600 companies, and 400 international experts from 30+ countries, Transfiere 2025 achieved its most successful edition to date, consolidating its role as a key platform for cross-border innovation exchange.

Spotlighting Deep-Tech Excellence

The selection process followed a structured and competitive format Málaga TechPark took part in. After an open application phase, ten shortlisted startups were invited to present their pitches during an online session evaluated by the expert panel. Ultimately, five finalists were selected to pitch live at the Transfiere Forum. These were:

• Tirecat Health (Catalonia, Spain) – The competition’s winner, recognized for its innovative bioinspired membranes with promising preclinical applications in healthcare.
• COLFEED4Print (Madrid, Spain) – Specializing in advanced 3D printing materials with applications in bone regeneration, energy storage, and environmental purification.
• MacroCarbon (Gran Canaria, Spain) – Focused on defossilizing the chemical industry through macroalgae-based carbon-negative raw materials.
• Miramoon Pharma (Basque Country, Spain) – Developing therapies for neurodegenerative and muscular diseases, including Alzheimer’s.
• Molefy Pharma (Tenerife, Spain) –Conducting R&D on novel therapeutic molecules and drug compounds.

Their final pitches were delivered in front of a live audience of investors, business angels, corporates, and innovation stakeholders, underscoring the dynamic landscape of European deep-tech entrepreneurship.

Broad Outreach and Strategic Promotion

The initiative benefited from a far-reaching promotional campaign led by Málaga TechPark and its partners. Dissemination efforts included email outreach, press releases, dedicated posts on LinkedIn and X, and engagement via the Euroquity platform, a collaborative platform driven by the partner Bpifrance, aimed at fostering a sustainable community composed of Deep Tech startups, scale-ups, and support organizations.

Fostering Sustainable Impact

Beyond the Demo Day itself, the initiative laid the groundwork for long-term engagement. Startups received structured feedback from evaluators, enhanced visibility among stakeholders, and direct access to follow-up opportunities. In the days following the event, Málaga TechPark engaged individually with participants to foster continued collaboration and identify synergies within the broader atTRACTION strategy. Future activities will include further Demo Days, international networking opportunities, and capacity-building actions aimed at supporting scale-up strategies for deep-tech startups.
