atTRACTION Success story – Luna Robotics: NATO-Compliant Vision for Modern Warfare

Battle-tested FPV drone imaging systems powering modern defence operations across NATO markets.

Luna Robotics is a Lithuanian defence technology startup developing advanced FPV drone imaging systems based on real combat experience and strong engineering expertise. Its flagship product, LunaCam, is a lightweight, AI-enhanced camera already tested on the Ukrainian frontline and fully compliant with NATO standards.

Modern conflicts have transformed how reconnaissance, situational awareness, and precision missions are executed. Luna Robotics, based in Kaunas and founded in 2024 by Elvinas Kukys and Ramūnas Čereškevičius, is addressing these emerging needs with imaging systems built specifically for FPV drones used in today’s military environments. Both founders are active members of the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union, giving the company strong defence-oriented leadership and a deep understanding of battlefield realities.

Luna Robotics is one of the Lithuanian startups supported by the atTRACTION programme, which aims to strengthen deep-tech innovation and cross-border cooperation in Europe. Through atTRACTION, the company gained access to international investment networks, expert coaching, and tailored support that improved its investment readiness and helped increase its visibility among European stakeholders.

With the support of atTRACTION partners—Steinbeis Europa Zentrum (Germany) and Tech-Park Kaunas—Luna Robotics was selected to participate in the Startup BW Summit in Stuttgart in June 2025. The event brought together pre-vetted international startups, investors from early seed to Series B, and leading innovation organisations from Germany, Poland, Ukraine, and Spain. Structured one-to-one investor meetings and networking opportunities enabled Luna Robotics to build relationships, strengthen market awareness, and explore collaboration opportunities.

The delegation included stakeholders such as CyberForum, innoWerft, SMART GREEN ACCELERATOR, BadenCampus, Officium AG, EVIG Alfa VC, Huge Thing Accelerator, the Ukrainian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (UVCA), and Link by UMA-Atech.

Insights from Ukrainian partners, especially UVCA, proved particularly valuable in understanding product testing under real combat conditions and evaluating potential cooperation opportunities in Ukraine. This close connection to real battlefield needs is reflected in LunaCam, the company’s flagship product. The camera provides low-latency, AI-enhanced day and night visibility, software-based image optimisation, modular design, and optional infrared illumination. Tested on the Ukrainian frontline, LunaCam showed strong performance in demanding conditions, significantly enhancing situational awareness for drone pilots.

All LunaCam units are manufactured in Lithuania using electronics and software sourced through a fully China-free supply chain, ensuring high security, resilience, and NATO compatibility—an increasingly important requirement for defence partners and drone manufacturers. LunaCam is already commercially available in EU and U.S. markets and has received positive feedback across NATO countries.

In 2025, Luna Robotics achieved a major milestone by securing €1,085,743 in investment from a syndicate led by Coinvest Capital, with participation from LitBAN, LatBAN, and the 21NGLS syndicate. The investment will support the expansion of sales across the EU and the United States, accelerate production automation, and increase mass-production capacity. The company was also awarded the “atTRACTION Champion” quality label for investment-ready deep techs and included in the atTRACTION Portfolio Catalogue, shared widely with European investors.

The company’s leadership sees significant potential for the European defence-tech sector but highlights key areas for improvement:

“To attract funding more effectively, defence and dual-use startups need stronger EU-level co-investment mechanisms, greater investor awareness of deep-tech and defence opportunities, and faster grant disbursement aligned with venture capital investment cycles. International investment is not only attractive but fully feasible; however, it requires simplified cross-border investment regulations, more specialised international events, and EU- and government-backed matchmaking initiatives. Equally important is encouraging investor syndication, leveraging public procurement as early market validation, and expanding dual-use support programmes and export financing instruments to help startups scale faster in international defence markets.”
Elvinas Kukys, CEO, Luna Robotics

Partners echo this view:

“Luna Robotics shows how startups from our region can develop technologies that respond to real, urgent needs while meeting international standards. Their progress demonstrates the importance of cross-border cooperation and access to European innovation ecosystems for scaling solutions with global relevance. Moreover, the industry in which Luna Robotics is developing its solutions and market strategy demonstrates an exciting example of modern entrepreneurs who look beyond the existing horizon and are ambitious enough to become a regional leader and trendsetter, while also contributing to the further development of local talent together with other ecosystem stakeholders in Lithuania. I believe in the continued success of Luna Robotics and I am ready to support them in any way possible.”
Dmytro Kuzmenko, Ukrainian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (UVCA)

Luna Robotics combines military insight with strong engineering capabilities in hardware, software, optics, and electronics, allowing it to adapt quickly to the rapidly evolving conditions of modern battlefields. With a growing B2B sales model and increasing international demand, the company is well positioned for rapid scaling and long-term growth. More than a product developer, Luna Robotics is building a strategic capability—providing drone pilots, defence partners, and allied nations with reliable, NATO-compliant “eyes in the sky” when reliability matters most.

Through participation in the atTRACTION project, Luna Robotics strengthened its international visibility, refined its investment readiness, and built valuable connections with investors and industry experts—laying a strong foundation for continued growth and success in Europe’s defence innovation landscape.
