SUMMARY:Investor networking session at the BW Startup Summit in Stuttgart
DESCRIPTION:As part of the atTRACTION activities during the BW Startup Summit 2025 in Stuttgart\, an exclusive Investor Networking Session was organised on 3 June 2025\, creating space for open dialogue between investors and deep-tech founders. \nThe session\, led by Dmytro Kuzmenko (UVCA)\, offered a deliberately informal and interactive format. Instead of traditional presentations\, investors were invited to share their “bad investment stories” in a light\, humorous tone. This approach helped identify common red flags and recurring pitfalls in early-stage investing. A key takeaway concerned frequent pivots or instability within founding teams\, which often negatively impact startup performance and investor confidence. \nImportantly\, startup founders were also invited to participate in the discussion. By listening directly to investors’ candid reflections\, they gained valuable insight into investor expectations\, risk perception and decision-making processes. This direct exposure supports one of atTRACTION’s core objectives: increasing founders’ investment readiness through practical\, real-world feedback. \nThe networking session was organised under atTRACTION’s action for Networking and engaging investors in collaboration with each other and founders\, led by UVCA. The broader objective of this task is to stimulate investor collaboration\, foster syndication practices and strengthen connections between emerging investors and more experienced angel networks. Through such events\, participants are introduced to tools such as EuroQuity communities\, investment clubs and syndicates\, enabling risk mitigation and cross-border collaboration. \nBy combining honest peer-to-peer exchanges with ecosystem-building mechanisms\, the investor networking session in Stuttgart demonstrated that strong investment ecosystems are built not only through capital deployment\, but also through trust\, transparency and shared learning. \n \n \n

SUMMARY:First Customer and Team Matchmaking Accelerator
DESCRIPTION:3rd Edition \nOnline: 22nd of April 2025 – 10th of May 2025. \nBootcamp in 8-9th of May 2025 \nThe First Customer programme in Kaunas saw perhaps the most diverse set of startups. This included a FoodTech startup BiodairyLabs\, a circular solutions startup Re4vive from Germany\, Biotech startups BrachyDose and Kosmeteka from Lithuania\, Edtech startup Lerni from Lithuania and AgriTech startup GrowerAdviser from Poland. In terms of success\, this was the most successful edition\, with Re4vive and GrowerAdviser both securing clients post-program and BiodairyLabs and BrachyDose joining accelerator programs. \nAn interesting discovery in our third edition is that the journey for each startup looks very different. Some startups are quick to get off the ground. The industry dictates the speed of success or what success in that industry looks like. \nThe Bootcamp on May 8th\, organized by Tech-Park Kaunas and Startup Migrants\, aimed to help participants enhance their sales skills and expand their professional networks. The day began with introductions\, followed by a session on how to organize a sales presentation and group work on crafting sales pitches. In the afternoon\, expert speakers shared their experiences and best practices for achieving sales. (Mentors Mantas Venslaukas CEO of Vilimed company\, and Algirdas Noreika\, CEO of Indeform company\, shared their success stories and gDaiave practical insights).  Later\, participants joined a networking coffee with mentors specializing in sales\, marketing\, and strategy to support early business growth. The official program concluded at 17:30\, with an optional community dinner held in the evening. \n  \nThe second day of the bootcamp focused on helping startups create professional video sales pitches. The program began with introductions\, followed by intensive pitch training where participants presented to three different mentors and received feedback to refine their delivery. After lunch\, teams gave final wrap-up presentations before moving on to filming their pitches. The day concluded with all startup pitches successfully recorded on video. \nThe programme success story is BiodairyLabs is a big success. Their product is a plant-based substitute for fat used in foods. BiodairyLabs started off solo and\, through our mentoring\, prioritized finding and creating a team. Since then\, they have actively taken part in most food and agritech fairs in Europe. They have also been part of several acceleration programs in Europe. \nAlso Re4vive was an interesting startup. They already had a company registered in Germany and joined our program in hopes of raising funding. Although funding efforts are still ongoing\, the startup has been able to secure three very big logos as clients. During the program\, they onboarded a pilot customer and now have two more. \nMost founders are so focused on building the perfect product that they are reluctant to get sales started. This has been another discovery: most startups neglect sales and look to hire salespeople rather than focusing on sales itself. Our focus throughout the First Customer programs has been to get these startups started on sales. \n

SUMMARY:Joint atTRACTION and Sophia Business Angels “International Venture Academy 2024”
DESCRIPTION:On November 8\, 2024\, the International Venture Academy (IVA)\, hosted by Sophia Business Angels (SBA) in Sophia Antipolis\, became a pivotal event for fostering deep-tech innovation. In collaboration with the atTRACTION project and its partners\, the event brought together 9 startups\, 9 atTRACTION partners\, and over 25 SBA members in an intimate yet high-impact environment. \nThe collaboration emphasized quality over quantity\, creating a focused setting where startups could form meaningful connections with international investors. Selected startups from Wielkopolska\, Andalusia\, and Lithuania pitched groundbreaking innovations ranging from bioresorbable medical materials\, secure\, unbackable\, internet connectivity\, quantum-based wireless power solutions to life saving land mines detection by drones based on sensors and AI technologies. These regions\, often overlooked by global investors\, showcased their potential as rising hubs for deep-tech innovation. \nWhat made this event special? The small-scale format\, featuring tailored coaching and multiple pitch sessions\, allowed startups to receive personalized feedback and refine their investment readiness. The alignment of values and objectives—supporting international capital collaboration to unlock global opportunities for innovative startups—further amplified the success of the event. \nThe impact was undeniable: \n\n6 out of 7 atTRACTION startups received awards\, including recognition for Best Team\, Best Improvement\, and Most Investment-Ready Startup.\nThe event fostered long-term partnerships\, with startups gaining access to mentors\, investors\, and international networks.\n\nAs Candace Johnson\, Founder of SBA\, remarked\, “The caliber of startups brought by atTRACTION was outstanding\, and their progress throughout the event highlighted the power of collaboration.” \nThe atTRACTION project’s role in curating the startups and providing pre-event preparation was critical to the event’s success.
